Greetings heroes and heroines! This toastmasters meeting on greatness was ushered by our hero obsessed President Jeff with his welcoming address. Our in house funny man Mr Toastmaster of the Evening, Sam Win, took the stage and conducted the meeting.

The first session of the meeting started off with a earnest Table Topics® Session conducted by Goy. Our speakers, Kyle Young, Ahmad Ridhwan, Yi Xuan, and Sin Hong took up the challenge and shined through the topics!

After the break, the meeting progressed towards the Prepared Speeches. The speakers were:

  1. Ah Huei, IP1, Innovative Planning lvl 1: Evaluation & Feedback 1st Speech
    Speech: Why Cooperative Offices
  2. Ben, EC2, Effective Coaching lvl 2: Understanding Your Communication Style
    Speech:  The Hardest Job In The World
  3. Shawn, CC CL PM2, Presentation Mastery lvl 3: Creating Effective Visual Aids Speech: Everyone Can Be A Science Communicator

The meeting continued with the Evaluation Session by Srinivas, DTM, all the way from MAD Toastmasters Club. The session comprised of the following Evaluators and role players:

  • Karen, DL4, for Table Topics® Speakers
  • Ridhwan, TC1, for Ah Huei
  • Kah Mun, CC ALB, for Shawn
  • Technical role players were: Abdurrahman VC2, as Grammarian, Kah Seng, TM, as Ah Counter  and Ben IP2, as Time Keeper

After the Evaluation Session, the following winners were announced:

  • Best Table Topics® Speaker: Yi Xuan
  • Best Prepared Speech Speaker: Shawn
  • Best Evaluator: Kah Mun

Peekaboo! This toastmasters meeting on scary things was ushered by our President Jeff. Our petite but can-do Miss Toastmaster of the Evening, Li Er, took the stage and moved the meeting towards a new light.

The first session of the meeting started off with a mind twisting Table Topics® Session conducted by Kah Mun. The speakers are to incorporate as many as 9 words in their table topics! Our speakers, Sharvin, Ahmad Ridhwan, Sam Win, and Jeff Ng defeated took up the challenge and managed to survive through the topics!

After the break, the meeting progressed towards the Prepared Speeches. The speakers were:

Happiness is in good health! This meeting on health importance was ushered with our Presidential welcoming address from our President Jeff. Our charming Mister Toastmaster of the Evening, Abdurrahman, was put to task and moved the meeting forward.

It is health that is true wealth, not pieces of gold and silver! This meeting on health awareness was ushered with our Presidential welcoming address from our President Jeff. Our ever-ready Mister Toastmaster of the Evening, Shawn, was in control of the stage and moved the meeting forward with an informative Powerpoint slide on the value of healthcare. The audience was astounded by the true cost of maintaining one’s life; some even underestimated their own life’s value!

We are all meant to overcome our own limits! Our limitless meeting was ushered in with our President welcoming address by our President Jeff. Our delightful miss Toastmaster of the Evening, Jo Ping, eloquently took the floor and spearhead the meeting. The audience was asked to share their personal limitations in life; some shared touching fall backs while others found a way to poke fun of the idea of limitations itself!

Fellow Toastmasters and guests, here’s our Club’s Humorous Speech & Evaluation Contests’ summary from last Monday!

The build-up towards the annual Universiti Malaya Toastmasters Humorous Speech & Evaluation Contests have been gripping to say the least, a whopping 7 humorous contestants and 6 evaluation contestants have anxiously placed their pride and name in an attempt to seize glory on the stage!

On the contest day itself, the venue was packed to the brim with cheery supporters each hoping for their favourite contestant to win. Not to mention, the Chief Judge, Sharon Wong, and her team of esteemed judges were present to ensure a fair contest.

Our contest started off with the welcoming address by our Humorous Speech & Evaluation Contests Chair, Kyle Young, thanking the audience for the support given to Universiti Malaya Toastmasters Club.

Without delay, our Humorous Speech Contest Toastmaster, Kah Mun, took control and conducted the first session. The Humorous Speech session started off with thunderous laughter maintained until the very end of the session. Thanks to our humorous master speakers, Rahman, Shawn, Sam Win, Sara, Ben, Kar Mei, and Kui Min, for their fantastic sportsmanship! Hilarious stories of fat shaming, skinny shaming, relationship turmoil, good/bad cooking, as well as a series of unfortunate events were being shared on stage. Only being there can one truly comprehend the diverse comedic talent possessed by these Toastmasters!

After a short break, the meeting proceeded with the evaluation contest when the Evaluation Contest Toastmaster, Darryn, took the stage. Sue Tiong, from Tan Chong Segambut Toastmasters Club, was the invited test-speaker. She narrated her many ‘first times’ to the audience whereby the climax was a thrilling psycho escape incident! Soon after, the contestants were placed onto the limelight in an attempt to evaluate Sue’s performance. Several fantastic advices were given and a correction or two was suggested too. However, only the best advice and the most useful improvement uttered can be considered for the title of champion!

The daring Ridhwan took helm as the Toastmaster of the Evening by conducting the meeting masterfully. Fellow Toastmasters and guests, here’s our meeting summary on last Tuesday!

Sometimes, less is more! Our meeting consists of several dedicated Universiti Malaya Toastmasters was ushered in by Yi Xuan the assistant sergeant at arms. The meeting started off with our acting President welcoming address by our Vice President Education Abdurrahman. Our friendly Toastmaster of the Evening, Sharvin took control and conducted the meeting with an injection of splendour. The first session of the meeting kicked off with a challenging Table Topics® Session conducted by our very own Abdurrahman. Our speakers, Ahmad Ridhwan, Sharvin, and Yu Chin took up the challenge to answer the topics given!

After the break, the meeting proceeded with our one and only Prepared Speech. The speaker was:

  1. Kyle Young, ACB CL Persuasive Influence  #1: Evaluation & Feedback – Feedback 2nd Speech: Plastisphere

Kyle Young, ACB CL shared his interesting take on plastics and its impact on our society and environment. Remember the 3 Rs: Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle.

The meeting continued with the Evaluation Session by General Evaluator May Ong, CC ALB, from Open University Toastmasters Club. The session comprised of the following role players:

Right after the meeting, Abdurrahman, the acting president gave his closing speech emphasising that it’s not the size of the meeting but the quality of the meeting that matters. Soon after, he proceeded to adjourn the meeting. From us UMTMC, we would like to thank the following people for their camaraderie and show of support:

Meeting #248, 13th September 2018 National Day

Fellow Toastmasters and guests, here’s our meeting summary on last Thursday!

A new term, a new beginning, and of course a refreshingly new venue in Capri by Fraser hotel! Our first meeting blasted off with our President welcoming address by our President Jeff. Our hyped Toastmaster of the Evening Kah Mun took control and conducted the meeting. The first session of the meeting started off with a philosophical Table Topics® Session conducted by Kui Min. Our speakers, Kar Mei, Ben our guest, Rahman and Ahmad Ridhwan took up the challenge to answer the topics given!

After the break, the meeting proceeded with Prepared Speeches. The speakers were:

  1. Yu Chin, TM Motivational Strategies #1: Evaluation & Feedback – Feedback 1st Speech: Be Better
  2. Kyle Young, ACB CL Persuasive Influence #1: Evaluation & Feedback – Feedback 1st Speech:  Tragedy of the Common
  3. Darryn, CC CL Advanced Storytelling Manual #5: 1 – Bringing History to Life: Sandstorm!

 

The meeting continued with the Evaluation Session by General Evaluator John Ng, ACB ALB, from Help University Toastmasters Club. The session comprised of the following role players:

  • Darryn CC, CL for Table Topics® Speakers
  • Yi Xuan TM for Yu Chin
  • Abdurrahman, (VC2), for Kyle Young
  • Jeff, CC CL, for Darryn
  • Technical role players: Sharvin TM as Grammarian, Ridhwan TC1 as Ah Counter  and Sin Hong MS1 as Time Keeper

After the Evaluation Session, the following winners were announced:

  • Best Table Topics® Speaker: Kar Mei
  • Best Prepared Speech Speaker: Darryn
  • Best Evaluator: Jeff
