Fellow Toastmasters and guests, here’s our Club’s Humorous Speech & Evaluation Contests’ summary from last Monday!

The build-up towards the annual Universiti Malaya Toastmasters Humorous Speech & Evaluation Contests have been gripping to say the least, a whopping 7 humorous contestants and 6 evaluation contestants have anxiously placed their pride and name in an attempt to seize glory on the stage!

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

On the contest day itself, the venue was packed to the brim with cheery supporters each hoping for their favourite contestant to win. Not to mention, the Chief Judge, Sharon Wong, and her team of esteemed judges were present to ensure a fair contest.

hdr

Our contest started off with the welcoming address by our Humorous Speech & Evaluation Contests Chair, Kyle Young, thanking the audience for the support given to Universiti Malaya Toastmasters Club.

Without delay, our Humorous Speech Contest Toastmaster, Kah Mun, took control and conducted the first session. The Humorous Speech session started off with thunderous laughter maintained until the very end of the session. Thanks to our humorous master speakers, Rahman, Shawn, Sam Win, Sara, Ben, Kar Mei, and Kui Min, for their fantastic sportsmanship! Hilarious stories of fat shaming, skinny shaming, relationship turmoil, good/bad cooking, as well as a series of unfortunate events were being shared on stage. Only being there can one truly comprehend the diverse comedic talent possessed by these Toastmasters!

After a short break, the meeting proceeded with the evaluation contest when the Evaluation Contest Toastmaster, Darryn, took the stage. Sue Tiong, from Tan Chong Segambut Toastmasters Club, was the invited test-speaker. She narrated her many ‘first times’ to the audience whereby the climax was a thrilling psycho escape incident! Soon after, the contestants were placed onto the limelight in an attempt to evaluate Sue’s performance. Several fantastic advices were given and a correction or two was suggested too. However, only the best advice and the most useful improvement uttered can be considered for the title of champion!
